Community Fundraising

The SHA is lucky to have a dedicated fundraising community who raise both money and awareness of the illness throughout the population of Scotland .
This is carried out by groups and individuals who are often affected by HD in one way or another. There are many simple ways to raise funds and include
others in your efforts.

Great Scottish Walk
This year's Great Scottish Walk had excellent weather for the thousands who turned out to raise money for their favourite causes. SHA had over
100 participants, which is possibly the largest number yet! Many people were walking to fundraise for the Lothian Branch's Family Conference.

Here are the Fife group posing for a pic before the Walk.

Blaze Fire Walk Challenge
Try something exciting and different to raise funds for the SHA!

On 24th January 2008 at the Menzies Hotel in Irvine, several brave individuals will walk barefoot along 20 feet of hot embers burning at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit unharmed.

If you would like to join them or if you would like more information contact Ann Porter at the Ayrshire office on 01294 276430.

Edinburgh Marathon - Hairy Haggis Relay

Well done to Adele Lothian and friends, pictured right, for completing the Hairy Haggis Relay. This is an excellent way to take part in a marathon without actually running 26 miles!

Next year's event is 25th May if you would like to take part.

New Online Fundraising Service

The association is now registered with the Just Giving Charity Fundraising website. It enables ordinary people to raise extraordinary amounts of money.
Since it’s launch in 2001, more than £100 million pounds has been raised for charity.

It allows fundraisers to register and set up simple online donations, standing orders and special personal fundraising sites. Gift Aid can automatically be
reclaimed on all taxpayers donations boosting figures by at least 28% for free via reclaiming tax. You can register and directly collect donated funds raised
via your own event participation and special occasions by creating an easy personal fundraising page. Take a look at the SHA's Fundraising page to decide
how you wish to donate.
